RESUMO

The prevalence of posttraumatic olfactory dysfunction in children after mild traumatic brain injury ranges from 3 to 58%, with potential factors influencing this variation, including traumatic brain injury severity and assessment methods. This prospective longitudinal study examines the association between mild traumatic brain injury and olfactory dysfunction in children. Seventy-five pediatric patients with mild traumatic brain injury and an age-matched healthy control group were enrolled. Olfactory function was assessed using the Sniffin' Sticks battery, which focuses on olfactory threshold and odor identification. The study found that children with mild traumatic brain injury had impaired olfactory function compared with healthy controls, particularly in olfactory threshold scores. The prevalence of olfactory dysfunction in the patient group was 33% and persisted for 1 yr. No significant association was found between traumatic brain injury symptoms (e.g. amnesia, loss of consciousness) and olfactory dysfunction. The study highlights the importance of assessing olfactory function in children after mild traumatic brain injury, given its potential impact on daily life. Although most olfactory dysfunction appears transient, long-term follow-up is essential to fully understand the recovery process. The findings add valuable insights to the limited literature on this topic and urge the inclusion of olfactory assessments in the management of pediatric mild traumatic brain injury.

OBJECTIVE: To establishe an analysis and identification method for 2-methylisoborneol(2-MIB) and geosmin(GSM) in water using purge and trap-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. METHODS: The samples were enriched and analyzed using a purge and trap system, followed by the separation on a DB-624(30 m×0.25 mm, 1.4 µm) chromatographic column. Quantification was performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with the selected ion monitoring and internal standard calibration. RESULTS: The calibration curves for 2-MIB and GSM showed an excellent linearity in the range of 1 to 100 ng/L with R~2 values greater than 0.999. The detection limit and quantification limit for both 2-MIB and GSM were 0.33 ng/L and 1.0 ng/L, respectively. Spike recovery experiments were further carried on the source water and drinking water at three concentration levels. It showed that the average recoveries were from 82.0% to 111.0% for 2-MIB while 84.0% to 110% for GSM. Additionally, the test precision of 2-MIB and GSM ranged from 1.9% to 7.3% and 1.9% to 5.0%(n=6), respectively. The analysis of multiple samples including the local source water, treated water and distribution network water confirmed the existence of 2-MIB and GSM. CONCLUSION: Compared to the national standard(GB/T 5750.8-2023), the proposed method enables fully automated sample introduction and analysis without the extra pre-treatment. It provides the advantages of simplicity, good repeatability and high accuracy.

To promote the rationalized and standardized application of star anise in braised poultry products, the effects of different concentrations of star anise (0 %, 0.1 %, 0.2 %, 0.3 %, and 0.4 %) on the aroma and taste compounds intensities of braised duck legs from the perspective of flavor were evaluated by using flavor omics approach combined with multivariate statistics. The volatile flavor results showed that there were 17 key aroma compounds with odor activity values (OAVs) > 1, including aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, furans, hydrocarbons, and ethers. Most of the aroma compounds related to lipid oxidation were significantly inhibited when the concentration of star anise reached 0.2 %, especially inhibited the concentrations of the unpleasant off-odorants containing hexanal, heptanal, 1-octen-3-ol, and 2-pentyl-furan by 30.27 %, 15.08 %, 30.30 %, and 41.63 %, respectively. And the flavor intensities of these compounds were negatively correlated with the concentration of star anise. Additionally, star anise gave braised duck legs characteristic aroma such as floral and herbal notes. The taste results revealed that the maximum umami value (4.36 g MSG/100 g) of braised duck legs was observed when the concentration of star anise reached 0.2 %. Six flavor markers were obtained via PLS-DA model, and the flavors of braised duck legs with different concentrations of star anise were distinguished. This study provided a vital theoretical basis for the rational application and flavor control of star anise in braised poultry products.

The scent of musk plays a unique role in the history of perfumery. Musk odorants comprise 6 diverse chemical classes and perception differences in strength and quality among human panelists have long puzzled the field of olfaction research. Three odorant receptors (OR) had recently been described for musk odorants: OR5AN1, OR1N2, and OR5A2. High functional expression of the difficult-to-express human OR5A2 was achieved by a modification of the C-terminal domain and the link between sensory perception and receptor activation for the trilogy of these receptors and their key genetic variants was investigated: All 3 receptors detect only musky smelling compounds among 440 commercial fragrance compounds. OR5A2 is the key receptor for the classes of polycyclic and linear musks and for most macrocylic lactones. A single P172L substitution reduces the sensitivity of OR5A2 by around 50-fold. In parallel, human panelists homozygous for this mutation have around 40-60-fold higher sensory detection threshold for selective OR5A2 ligands. For macrocyclic lactones, OR5A2 could further be proven as the key OR by a strong correlation between in vitro activation and the sensory detection threshold in vivo. OR5AN1 is the dominant receptor for the perception of macrocyclic ketones such as muscone and some nitromusks, as panelists with a mutant OR5A2 are still equally sensitive to these ligands. Finally, OR1N2 appears to be an additional receptor involved in the perception of the natural (E)-ambrettolide. This study for the first time links OR activation to sensory perception and genetic polymorphisms for this unique class of odorants.

Plant proteins often carry off-notes, necessitating customized aroma addition. In vitro studies revealed protein-aroma binding, limiting release during consumption. This study employs in vivo nose space proton transfer reaction-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry and dynamic sensory evaluation (time intensity) to explore in-mouth interactions. In a lupin protein-based aqueous system, a sensory evaluation of a trained "green" attribute was conducted simultaneously with aroma release of hexanal, nonanal, and 2-nonanone during consumption. Results demonstrated that enlarging aldehyde chains and relocating the keto group reduced maximum perceived intensity (Imax_R) by 71.92 and 72.25%. Protein addition decreased Imax_R by 30.91, 36.84, and 72.41%, indicating protein-aroma interactions. Sensory findings revealed a perceived intensity that was lower upon protein addition. Aroma lingering correlated with aroma compounds' volatility and hydrophobicity, with nonanal exhibiting the longest persistence. In vitro mucin addition increased aroma binding four to 12-fold. Combining PTR-ToF-MS and time intensity elucidated crucial food behavior, i.e., protein-aroma interactions, that are pivotal for food design.

BACKGROUND: The fruity aromatic bouquet of coffee has attracted recent interest to differentiate high value market produce as specialty coffee. Although the volatile compounds present in green and roasted coffee beans have been extensively described, no study has yet linked varietal molecular differences to the greater abundance of specific substances and support the aroma specificity of specialty coffees. RESULTS: This study compared four Arabica genotypes including one, Geisha Especial, suggested to generate specialty coffee. Formal sensory evaluations of coffee beverages stressed the importance of coffee genotype in aroma perception and that Geisha Especial-made coffee stood out by having fine fruity, and floral, aromas and a more balanced acidity. Comparative SPME-GC-MS analyses of green and roasted bean volatile compounds indicated that those of Geisha Especial differed by having greater amounts of limonene and 3-methylbutanoic acid in agreement with the coffee cup aroma perception. A search for gene ontology differences of ripening beans transcriptomes of the four varieties revealed that they differed by metabolic processes linked to terpene biosynthesis due to the greater gene expression of prenyl-pyrophosphate biosynthetic genes and terpene synthases. Only one terpene synthase (CaTPS10-like) had an expression pattern that paralleled limonene loss during the final stage of berry ripening and limonene content in the studied four varieties beans. Its functional expression in tobacco leaves confirmed its functioning as a limonene synthase. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, these data indicate that coffee variety genotypic specificities may influence ripe berry chemotype and final coffee aroma unicity. For the specialty coffee variety Geisha Especial, greater expression of terpene biosynthetic genes including CaTPS10-like, a limonene synthase, resulted in the greater abundance of limonene in green beans, roasted beans and a unique citrus note of the coffee drink.

Previous studies suggested odor stimulation may influence feeding of premature neonates. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials was conducted to assess the effect of human milk odor stimulation on feeding of premature infants. All randomized controlled trials related to human milk odor stimulation on feeding in premature infants published in PubMed, Cochrane, Library, Medline, Embase, Web of science databases and Chinese biomedical literature databases, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP) and Wanfang Chinese databases were searched, and The Cochrane Handbook 5.1.0 was used to evaluate the quality and authenticity of the literature. Relevant information of the included studies was extracted and summarized, and the evaluation indexes were analyzed using ReviewManager5.3. The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to July 28, 2022.12 articles were assessed for eligibility, and six randomized controlled studies were eventually included in the meta-analysis (PRISMA). A total of 6 randomized controlled studies with 763 patients were finally included in the study, and the quality evaluation of literatures were all grade B. Human milk odor stimulation reduced the transition time to oral feeding in premature infants [SMD = - 0.48, 95% CI (- 0.69, - 0.27), Z = 4.54, P < 0.00001] and shortened the duration of parenteral nutrition [MD = - 1.01, 95% CI (- 1.70, - 0.32), Z = 2.88, P = 0.004]. However, it did not change the length of hospitalization for premature infants [MD = - 0.03, 95% CI (- 0.41, 0.35), Z = 0.17, P = 0.86]. The implementation of human milk odor stimulation can reduce the transition time to oral feeding and the duration of parenteral nutrition in premature infants, but further studies are needed to determine whether it can reduce the length of hospital stay in premature infants. More high-quality, large-sample studies are needed to investigate the effect of human milk odor stimulation on the feeding process and other outcomes in premature infants.

The mammalian olfactory system detects and discriminates between millions of odorants to elicit appropriate behavioral responses. While much has been learned about how olfactory sensory neurons detect odorants and signal their presence, how specific innate, unlearned behaviors are initiated in response to ethologically relevant odors remains poorly understood. Here, we show that the 4-transmembrane protein CD20, also known as MS4A1, is expressed in a previously uncharacterized subpopulation of olfactory sensory neurons in the main olfactory epithelium of the murine nasal cavity and functions as a mammalian olfactory receptor that recognizes compounds produced by mouse predators. While wildtype mice avoid these predator odorants, mice genetically deleted of CD20 do not appropriately respond. Together, this work reveals a CD20-mediated odor-sensing mechanism in the mammalian olfactory system that triggers innate behaviors critical for organismal survival.

Replicating the sense of smell presents an ongoing challenge in the development of biomimetic devices. Olfactory receptors exhibit remarkable discriminatory abilities, including the enantioselective detection of individual odorant molecules. Graphene has emerged as a promising material for biomimetic electronic devices due to its unique electrical properties and exceptional sensitivity. However, the efficient detection of nonpolar odor molecules using transistor-based graphene sensors in a gas phase in environmental conditions remains challenging due to high sensitivity to water vapor. This limitation has impeded the practical development of gas-phase graphene odor sensors capable of selective detection, particularly in humid environments. In this study, we address this challenge by introducing peptide-functionalized graphene sensors that effectively mitigate undesired responses to changes in humidity. Additionally, we demonstrate the significant role of humidity in facilitating the selective detection of odorant molecules by the peptides. These peptides, designed to mimic a fruit fly olfactory receptor, spontaneously assemble into a monomolecular layer on graphene, enabling precise and specific odorant detection. The developed sensors exhibit notable enantioselectivity, achieving a remarkable 35-fold signal contrast between d- and l-limonene. Furthermore, these sensors display distinct responses to various other biogenic volatile organic compounds, demonstrating their versatility as robust tools for odor detection. By acting as both a bioprobe and an electrical signal amplifier, the peptide layer represents a novel and effective strategy to achieve selective odorant detection under normal atmospheric conditions using graphene sensors. This study offers valuable insights into the development of practical odor-sensing technologies with potential applications in diverse fields.

Sensory systems are organized hierarchically, but feedback projections frequently disrupt this order. In the olfactory bulb (OB), cortical feedback projections numerically match sensory inputs. To unravel information carried by these two streams, we imaged the activity of olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs) and cortical axons in the mouse OB using calcium indicators, multiphoton microscopy, and diverse olfactory stimuli. Here, we show that odorant mixtures of increasing complexity evoke progressively denser OSN activity, yet cortical feedback activity is of similar sparsity for all stimuli. Also, representations of complex mixtures are similar in OSNs but are decorrelated in cortical axons. While OSN responses to increasing odorant concentrations exhibit a sigmoidal relationship, cortical axonal responses are complex and nonmonotonic, which can be explained by a model with activity-dependent feedback inhibition in the cortex. Our study indicates that early-stage olfactory circuits have access to local feedforward signals and global, efficiently formatted information about odor scenes through cortical feedback.

The aroma in rice is the most appreciable quality trait, controlled by the loss of function of the betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (BADH2) gene. In the present study, indica rice cultivars (basmati, nonbasmati aromatic, and nonaromatic) were screened to explore allelic differences in the BADH2 gene using two functional markers (badh2-p-5'UTR and FMbadh2-E7). Notably, the results of the present mutational analysis showed that both markers confirmed a different mutation in indica rice cultivars than earlier reported japonica accessions. It was found that there is 250-bp deletion in the promoter region of aromatic Kagesali and Kalakrishna as compared to nonaromatic Kolamb. The results of FMbadh2-E7 showed 8-bp deletion and six SNPs in exon 7 of the Kalakrishna cultivar. Interestingly, the nonbasmati aromatic Lalbhat rice cultivar did not harbour any reported mutation and showed a novel BADH2 allele carrying 1-bp deletion in exon 7. Among the selected aromatic rice cultivars, eight cultivars showed mutation in the 5' UTR region and interestingly 23 rice cultivars carried the mutation in both 5' UTR and exon 7 of a BADH2 gene. The 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP) biosynthesis related metabolites, enzyme assay and gene expression supported mutation in BADH2 gene and expression of 2AP in aromatic rice cultivars under study.

MAIN CONCLUSION: The three, by mutagenesis produced genes OsPi21, OsXa5, and OsBADH2, generated novel lines exhibiting desired fragrance and improved resistance. Elite sterile lines are the basis for hybrid rice breeding, and rice quality and disease resistance become the focus of new sterile lines breeding. Since there are few sterile lines with fragrance and high resistance to blast and bacterial blight at the same time in hybrid rice production, we here integrated the simultaneous mutagenesis of three genes, OsPi21, OsXa5, and OsBADH2, into Zhi 5012S, an elite thermo-sensitive genic male sterile (TGMS) variety, using the CRISPR/Cas9 system, thus eventually generated novel sterile lines would exhibit desired popcorn-like fragrance and improved resistance to blast and bacterial blight but without a loss in major agricultural traits such as yield. Collectively, this study develops valuable germplasm resources for the development of two-line hybrid rice with disease resistance, which provides a way to rapid generation of novel TGMS lines with elite traits.

A single combi oven, known for its versatility, is an excellent choice for a variety of chicken soup preparations. However, the impact of universal steam ovens on the flavor quality of chicken soup remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the impact of different cooking methods on the aroma and taste of chicken soup. Three cooking methods with various stewing times were compared: ceramic pot (CP), electric pressure cooker (EPC), and combi oven (CO). Analyses were conducted using electron-nose, electron-tongue, gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS), automatic amino acid analysis, and chemometric methods. A total of 14 amino acids, including significant umami contributors, were identified. The taste components of CP and CO chicken soups were relatively similar. In total, 39 volatile aroma compounds, predominantly aldehydes, ketones, and alcohols, were identified. Aldehydes were the most abundant compounds, and 23 key aroma compounds were identified. Pearson's correlation analyses revealed distinct correlations between various amino acids (e.g., glutamic acid and serine) and specific volatile compounds. The aroma compounds from the CP and CO samples showed similarities. The results of this study provide a reference for the application of one-touch cooking of chicken soup in versatile steam ovens.

BACKGROUND: Early identification of deficits in our ability to perceive odors is important as many normal (i.e., aging) and pathological (i.e., sinusitis, viral, neurodegeneration) processes can result in diminished olfactory function. To realistically enable population-level measurements of olfaction, validated olfaction tests must be capable of being administered outside the research laboratory and clinical setting. AIM: The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of remotely testing olfactory performance using a test that was developed with funding from the National Institutes of Health as part of a ready-to-use, non-proprietary set of measurements useful for epidemiologic studies (NIH Toolbox Odor ID Test). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eligible participants older than 39 years and active (within 6 months) in the Brain Health Registry (BHR), an online cognitive assessment platform which connects participants with researchers, were recruited for this study. Interested participants were mailed the NIH Toolbox Odor ID Test along with instructions on accessing a website to record their responses. Data obtained from subjects who performed the test at home was compared to the normative data collected when the NIH Toolbox Odor ID Test was administered by a tester in a research setting and validated against the Smell Identification Test. The age-range and composition of the population ensured we had the ability to observe both age-related decline and gender-related deficits in olfactory ability, as shown in the experimental setting. RESULTS: We observed that age-associated olfactory decline and gender-associated performance was comparable to performance on the administered test. Self-administration of this test showed the age-related loss in olfactory acuity, F(4, 1156)=14.564, p<.0001 as well as higher accuracy for women compared to men after controlling for participants' age, F(1, 1160) = 22.953, p <.0001. The effect size calculated as Hedge's g, was 0.41. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that the NIH Toolbox Odor ID Test is an appropriate instrument for self-administered assessment of olfactory performance. The ability to self-administer an inexpensive olfactory test increases its utility for inclusion in longitudinal epidemiological studies and when in-person testing is not feasible.

Mark tests, in which an animal uses a mirror to locate and examine an otherwise unnoticeable mark on its own body, are commonly used to assess self-recognition, which may have implications for self-awareness. Recently, several olfactory-reliant species have appeared to pass odour-based versions of the mark test, though it has never been attempted in reptiles. We conducted an odour-based mark test on two species of snakes, Eastern gartersnakes and ball pythons, with widely divergent ecologies (i.e. terrestrial foragers that communally brumate versus semi-arboreal ambush predators that do not). We find that gartersnakes, but not ball pythons, pass the test, and a range of control tests suggest this is based on self-recognition. Gartersnakes are more social than ball pythons, supporting recent suggestions that social species are more likely to self-recognize. These results open the door to examination of the ecology of self-recognition, and suggest that this ability may evolve in response to species-specific ecological challenges, some of which may align with complexity of social structures.

The morpho-functional properties of neural networks constantly adapt in response to environmental stimuli. The olfactory bulb is particularly prone to constant reshaping of neural networks because of ongoing neurogenesis. It remains unclear whether the complexity of distinct odor-induced learning paradigms and sensory stimulation induces different forms of structural plasticity. In the present study, we automatically reconstructed spines in 3D from confocal images and performed unsupervised clustering based on morphometric features. We show that while sensory deprivation decreased the spine density of adult-born neurons without affecting the morphometric properties of these spines, simple and complex odor learning paradigms triggered distinct forms of structural plasticity. A simple odor learning task affected the morphometric properties of the spines, whereas a complex odor learning task induced changes in spine density. Our work reveals distinct forms of structural plasticity in the olfactory bulb tailored to the complexity of odor-learning paradigms and sensory inputs.

RESUMO

This map presents overview evidence of the clinical effects of essential oils in humans. The search was conducted in several databases, and 73 systematic review studies were included. Main Findings: This Map collects evidence for interventions with 49 essential oils, 9 fatty vegetable oils or in 66 mixtures (synergies) and one hydrolate, with applications through inhalation, massage, bath, ingestion, or topical. Each intervention was associated with at least one of 55 health outcomes classified into 8 groups: Pain; Metabolic and Physiological Indicators; Noncommunicable Diseases; Mental Health; Infectious Diseases; Women´s Health; Skin Diseases; Well-Being, Vitality and Quality of Life, totaling 420 associations. The effects reported by each study included: positive, potentially positive, no effect, and inconclusive effects. This Map found 333 positive effect for different health outcomes. Highlighting that no negative effect was reported. The essential oil most researched was Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia - 116 associations). The Roses essential oil was the second most researched (Rosa damascena - 24 associations). The interventions with Lavender essential oil demonstrated more relevant effects on Mental Health, especially anxiety disorders. Interventions with Rose essential oil the more relevant effects on outcomes related to Women's Health, especially dysmenorrhea and pain in childbirth.

OBJECTIVE: Personality, emotions, and olfaction exhibit partial anatomical overlap in the limbic system structure, establishing potential mechanisms between personality, affective disorders, and olfactory-related aspects. Thus, this study aims to investigate the associations among the Big Five personality traits, alexithymia, anxiety symptoms, and odor awareness. METHODS: A total of 863 college participants were recruited for this study. All participants completed the Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory-15, the Odor Awareness Scale (OAS), the Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20, and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Screener-7. Structural equation modeling was employed to examine the hypothesized mediated model. RESULTS: The findings revealed the majority of significant intercorrelations among the dimensions of the Big Five personality traits, alexithymia, anxiety symptoms, and OAS (|r| = 0.072-0.567, p < 0.05). Alexithymia and anxiety symptoms exhibited a serial mediation effect between neuroticism and OAS (95%CI[0.001, 0.014]), conscientiousness and OAS (95%CI[-0.008, -0.001]), and extraversion and OAS (95%CI[-0.006, -0.001]). Anxiety symptoms mediated the relationship between agreeableness and OAS (95%CI[-0.023, -0.001]) and between openness and OAS (95%CI [0.004, 0.024]). CONCLUSION: The mediating roles of alexithymia and anxiety symptoms between the Big Five personality traits and odor awareness support the idea of a certain level of association among personality, emotions, and olfaction, with the underlying role of the limbic system structure. This enhances our understanding of personality, emotions, and olfaction and provides insights for future intervention measures for affective disorders and olfactory dysfunctions.

As an important source of malodor, the odor gases emitted from public toilet significantly interfered the air quality of living surroundings, resulting in environmental problem which received little attention before. Thus, this paper explored the odor release pattern of latrine feces and deodorization effect with composited microbial agent in Chengdu, China. The odor release rules were investigated in sealed installations with a working volume of 9 L for 20 days. The odor units (OU), ammonia (NH3), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) were selected to assess the release of malodorous gases under different temperature and humidity, while the highest malodor release was observed under 45℃, with OU and TVOC concentration was 643.91 ± 2.49 and 7767.33 ± 33.50 mg/m3, respectively. Microbes with deodorization ability were screened and mixed into an agent, which composited of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Lactobacillus plantarum, Enterococcus faecalis and Pichia fermentans. The addition of microbial deodorant could significantly suppress the release of malodor gas during a 20-day trial, and the removal efficiency of NH3, H2S, TVOC and OU was 81.50 %, 38.31 %, 64.38 %, and 76.86 %, respectively. The analysis of microbial community structure showed that temperature was the main environmental factor driving the microbial variations in latrine feces, while Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes were the main bacteria phyla involved in the formation and emission of malodorous gases. However, after adding the deodorant, the abundance of Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria were decreased, while the abundance of Firmicutes was increased. Furthermore, P. fermentans successfully colonized in fecal substrates and became the dominant fungus after deodorization. These results expanded the understanding of the odor release from latrine feces, and the composited microbial deodorant provided a valuable basis to the management of odor pollution.

The objective of the present report was to develop and validate a simple, sensitive, and selective analytical method for the determination of methamphetamine in an odor-adsorbent material (gauze) which was used to improve and standardize the training method used for drug-detection animals. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was performed using a Spherisorb ODS2 C18 column (200 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 µm), with a mobile phase consisting of a 0.25% methanol/triethylamine aqueous solution (V:V = 20:80), the pH of which was adjusted to 3.1 using glacial acetic acid, at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The column temperature was 25 °C, and the detection of the analytes was performed at a wavelength of 260 nm. Methamphetamine showed good linearity (R2 = 0.9999) in the range of 4.2~83.2 mg/mL. The stability of the test material was good over 24 h. The precision of the method was good, with an average spiked recovery of 86.2% and an RSD of 2.9%. The methamphetamine content in the gauze sample was determined to be 7.8 ± 2.2 µg/sample. A high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was optimized and validated for the determination of methamphetamine in adsorbent materials (gauze). Validation data in terms of specificity, linearity, the limit of detection and the limit of quantification, reproducibility, precision, stability, and recovery indicated that the method is suitable for the routine analysis of methamphetamine in adsorbent materials (gauze) and provided a basis for training drug-detection animals.
